Why Boone Towne Hymns?

After being away for 30 years, I returned home to Booneville - a little frontier town with deep Appalachian roots that have shaped so much of who I am.

For 15 years, I served as a Worship Pastor in the PCA (Presbyterian Church in America), and in that time, I grew to love the history and depth of old hymns. Their theology and honesty still move me in ways few modern songs can. I’ve always loved rearranging hymns or writing new music for them, giving them fresh expression while keeping their truth intact.

When I returned to Booneville, I asked myself: “If I could plant a church here, what would the music sound like?” This collection is my answer. It’s the sound of home - gritty, rooted, hopeful, and it’s all about reviving the songs of the saints so they can keep pointing us to Christ in every age.

Most of my ministry years were spent in North Carolina, where much of my family’s story and ancestry is rooted. Those mountains, the community, and their music made it incredibly hard to leave, and they still echo through these songs. In many ways, Boone Towne Hymns is the meeting place of both worlds - Booneville’s frontier grit and North Carolina’s Appalachian depth.

At the heart of it, I simply wanted to produce, arrange, and play - to take what was in my head and heart and bring it to life. This project is the result ~ old songs finding new breath and pointing people to Jesus.

I hope you are blessed by this project and that it helps you see Jesus just a little bit clearer.

Grace & Peace,
shane
